During the bidding of the team, Punjab Kings were bought by the Dabur groupโs Mohit Burman (46%), the Wadia groupโs Ness Wadia (23%), Preity Zinta (23%), and Saptarshi Dey of the Dey & Dey Group (minor stake). All the teams paid a total $76 million to buy the club.
However, in 2010 IPL terminated the contract of Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals after a controversy between Lalit Modi and BBCI. But KXIP took legal action against BCCI to remain in IPL and tried negotiating with the IPLโs owner; when things couldnโt work out, KXIP filed a case in Mumbai high court accusing IPL of terminating their contracts deliberately. Subsequently, they won the case, and in 2012 the Kings XI Punjab were renamed to Punjab Kings.
Punjab Kings plays their home games at PCA Stadium, Mohali, although after 2010, they started playing at many of their grounds Dharamsala and Indore. In 2014 the Kings XI Punjab topped the group table but lost the final, and since they have made only one other plays-off in 13 seasons.

Punjab Kings have been the least successful team in IPL; they have only been the runners-up in IPL and have rarely have qualified for the play-off. Most of the season, they have finished below the sixth position.
And it looks like they will not be able to go far in this tournament this season as well. And during the auction they did not go for many star players who holds great experience, which makes their team fragile in my departments.
