The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is all special in its own way as it is set to feature ten teams and the mega auction saw the number of the core players being shifted to other teams and it will be interesting to see how they fare.

With a lot at stake and the fact that the tournament now has a history of 14 editions, it is no surprise that certain players have stamped their authority in the global T20 league. Today, let us take a look at the five records that are on the verge of being broken and are most likely to be broken in the IPL 2022.

1) 4 more to glory

The record for the most wickets in the IPL belongs to the Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, who has 170 wickets to his name in a career that span close to 10 years. With him now set to take up management responsibilities, the CSK veteran and Windies star Dwayne Bravo who has 167 wickets under his belt stands on the verge of breaking the record for most wickets.

The all-rounder has been in and out of the sport after suffering a number of injuries, however, CSK chasing him at the auction and successfully bidding him for a decent price of 4.4 cr does suggest that he will be given a vital role in the side. Can the 38-year old create history by overtaking Malinga?

# Bravo is the highest wicket-taker in T20s (571) and he is also the only player to take over 500 wickets in the format.

2) Youngest leader

At 24 years, the skipper of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant is by far the youngest skipper in the league. The aggressive left-hander could create history in the upcoming edition by becoming the youngest captain to win the title. Any guesses on the youngest skipper to lead their team to glory in the IPL?

Well, many of you must have got it right. It is Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians, who lead his side to victory in 2013 at the age of 26 years.

# Pant can also become the first skipper to lead Delhi Capitals to a title win. In the current form the youngster is in, it should be no surprise if he pulls this off.

3) Do not let the ducks out

There are six players who are joint in the list for the most ducks (13) in the tournament. Out of which only the MI skipper Rohit Sharma, CSK middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu and KKR batsman Ajinkya Rahane are active. Kolkata Knight Riders bought the Right-hander at his base price of 1 crore and that does suggest that his chances of making it to the playing Xl are slim. The contest is likely to be between the MI skipper and Rayudu. Who do you think will become the owner of the infamous record?

4) King of the tons

With six blistering centuries to his name, the Universe boss holds the record for the most number of centuries in the Indian Premier League. However, the former Windies skipper has announced his retirement from the sport and that does mean that the former RCB skipper, Virat Kohli, who has five centuries to his name is well in contention to beat Gayle's record. Yes, the run machine has not been in the best of forms but given his caliber, he is definitely a strong contender.

Delhi Capitals' opener David Warner too has four centuries to his name and from what we saw in the previous seasons, do not be surprised if he makes his way to the top of the list.

5) Dot ball in gold dust in this format

We know how important even a single dot ball could be in this shortest version of the game. The incredible record for bowling the most number of dot balls belongs to India's former legendary off spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has bowled 1268 dot balls in his IPL career. However, he is likely to be replaced from the top spot in the upcoming season as three players, namely, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin and Sunil Narine are mighty close to overtaking the Turbinator.

Both Bhuvneshwar and Ashwin are just 2 dots and 4 dots away from making their way to the top of the list. Who do you think is likely to top the list at the end of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League?
