With batsmen and bowlers ready to show their talent on the pitch. However, over the years, batsmen have received more limelight than bowlers, but multiple times the bowlers have demonstrated their skills and proved their worth. 

This IPL, we will witness these bowlers making their status and fighting for the most wickets they do every season. The most wicket-taker will receive the purple cap. 

And this season, we have many top-notch bowlers who will make amends, so let’s predict who will take the purple cap home. 

#1 Kagiso Rabada (PBKS)

Kagiso Rabada has earlier won the purple cap in 2020 IPL taking 30 wickets. He has always delivered a consistent performance in IPL and has been regarded favorite to win the purple cap in every IPL tournament.

He Picked up 25 wickets in 2019, 30 wickets in IPL 2020, and 15 wickets in IPL 2021. And this year as well he will be aiming for more wickets to capitalize on the purple cap. Rabada boosts a solid bowling pace, 

But this time he will be donning a different IPL team's t-shirt as Delhi Capitals did not retain him. Meaning Punjab Kings will have his service and considering his bowling prowess; the former purple cup winner will once again be the contender to bag the accolade. 

#2 Jasprit Bumrah  (MI)

Bumrah has been India’s top bowler and demonstrated his worth on the pitch. He has been on form and looks optimistic about winning the purple cap, which he is yet to win. The pacer burst onto the scene when he took 21 wickets in just 14 games at an economy of 7.45%, and in total, the pacer has 130 IPL scalps under his belt in 106 matches at an economy of 7.42.

He has now become the X-factor for Mumbai Indians in past years and always delivers when expected, and this year, a lot will be anticipated from him as he will fight for his first purple cap during IPL 2022. 

#3 Rashid Khan (Gujurat Titans)

Rashid Khan is one of the decorated bowlers in cricket history; he has been ranked fifth in ICC’s best bowler rankings. His bowling is a testament to why he has been lauded as the best bowler in IPL. 

He racked up 105 wickets in 58 games with an economy of 6.18. Rashid Khan was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 and has been with the same franchise until now, he will be plying his trade for Gujarat Titans after the Ahmedabad franchise bought him for Rs. 15 crores. He is yet to win the purple cap despite coming close to winning the award but he has always been a favorite to bag the elusive cap. 

#4 Avesh Khan (Lucknow Supergiants)

Avesh Khan is the future Indian cricket bowler who made it to the spotlight when he finished second-leading wicket-taker last season by chalking-up 24 wickets at an average of 18.75. The young bowler will make amends this season and pit his wits against other top-class bowlers.

His exploits are impressive, and he is the potential contender for the IPL 2022 purple cap. He will spearhead the bowling line for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants.  

#5 Harshal Patel (RCB)

Harsh Patel broke records last year in IPL as his performance spoke volumes of his talent as a pacer. He was the leading wicket-taker in last year’s IPL with 32 wickets, a new face surprising many teams. In just 15 games, he clinched 32 wickets equalling Dwayne Bravo’s record for most scalps in a single season.

His consistent wicket-taking performance gave him the new name, the purple Patel. He was a crucial player for RCB as he was repurchased for whopping 10.75 crores. Making him the team’s hottest property. Harsh Patel will be looking to influence in this season as well.
