The first month of 2022 is about to end and we can surely say that it was a great month for all the cricketing fans. Today, we'll recap the entire month with perhaps the best incidents that took place in other words we bring you all the major cricketing events that took place in the month of January.

India vs South Africa

The Indians entered the new year with a win in the first Test but it seems that their luck didn't follow. India lost all the matches against South Africa in 2022 (2 Tests, 3 ODIs) and that's not a start the Indian fans were expecting.

Once again, India failed to win a Test series on Proteas turf and it seems that they will have to wait longer. The ODI series was also KL Rahul's debut series as India's skipper and unfortunately, he made it into a list, not any Indian captain would want to be a part of.

Ireland's conquest

Ireland visited the Caribbean for a three-match ODI series and gave everything they had to make history. Ireland didn't have the start they wanted, losing the first ODI by 24 runs on January 8, 2022.

However, Ireland made a comeback in the series, beating the home side that too in the rescheduled 2nd ODI that was held on January 13 (earlier it was scheduled for 11th).

Even that match was reduced to 36 overs due to rain. The best was yet to come as Ireland were chasing 213 runs in the deciding ODI match and had the worst start possible. Huge credit to the Irish skipper Paul Stirling and Andy McBrine who did enough for Ireland to make it through the line and beat West Indies in their backyard.

IPL auction

The mega auction is scheduled to take place in February but there was a lot left before the auction that made way in January. Lucknow announced their new name as Lucknow Super Giants while it was announced that KL Rahul will be leading the newly entered franchise.

The team has also roped in Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi on their side as they look forward to the auctions. On the other side, KL's best friend Hardik Pandya was named as the leader for the other franchise that will feature in IPL 2022, representing Ahmedabad.

Havoc in Barbados

England have visited West Indies for a 5-match T20I series followed by a three-match Test series. In the first T20I, England lost the match in shambolic fashion after getting all out for 103. West Indies chased it easily and won the match by nine wickets.

However, the visitors made a comeback and won the second T20I just by a run as Akeal Hosein did everything he could to score 28 runs in the final over, missing the win by the finest of margins.
