India will be hoping to clinch the T20 Word Cup trophy after they faltered to deceive in the previous T20 World Cup and this time India will have a new captain after Virat Kohli retired from captainship across all formats.

The new captain Rohit Sharma will be in a dilemma as to whom to pick up for the T20 World Cup, and this will need a lot of time as many youngsters have impressed in IPL 2022.

It will be a stepping stone for the youngsters and other Indian players who were dropped from the squad, who could make a cut in starting XI. The men in blue will be in desperate need to end the 15 years of T20 World Cup trophy drought after the last winning in 2007.

Now let’s have a look at who will be the favourites to make it to India’s XI squad.

Openers

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will be the opening batsmen. KL Rahul is in imperious form as he continues to show his batting prowess for LSG in the IPL 2022. His knocks have been impressive, and his firm eyesight to deliver in crunch games has given LSG an upper hand in the batting unit; he leads them from the front.

Rohit Sharma is enduring a shambolic IPL 2022 as his side has lost eight successive games and are on the brink of getting eliminated, and his performance has been mundane as well, but he can make amends in the T20 World Cup.

Middle-order

As usual, Kohli is experiencing a dip in form after a dull display as he is yet to make a decent run for RCB. But the kind of carnage Kohli brings to the team is purely entertaining, and we are vying for him to get back to his form before the T20 World Cup starts as he is the irresistible choice of team India.

Suryakumar has carried Mumbai Indians on his back in this season of IPL 2022; he is the only player who has made a difference in the batting department; his wide variety of strokes at his payroll could help India in the middle overs, and he should be picked up for the T20 World Cup.

Dinesh Kartik or Rishabh Pant, It will be great to see Dinesh Kartik back on the Indian team after years. After a dip in Kohli’s form, he has stepped up and helped RCB make certain targets. He has been a threat to opposition bowlers, and his brilliant performances should be enough to convince team India to pick him up for the T20 World Cup.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant will certainly be the first choice ahead of this tournament, but the 24-year-old is having a decent run in IPL and it will be a surprise if India chooses Dinesh Kartik over Pant. However, it does look likely for the management to include Kartik as the backup keeper.

All-rounders

Hardik Pandya is in fine form for Gujarat Titans after a few setbacks. He is an all-rounder and a player to look out for in the IPL 2022 with his excellent display in the matches. His performance has helped the team stay afloat in the quest for the top spot.

Ravindra Jadeja should be picked up at all costs as he is an undroppable player and a type of player who brings unity and composure to the dressing room.

Except for his excellent bowling, Ashwin has risen in the batting department and has 326 runs in 29 innings to his name. While bowling, he has scalped 48 wickets in 56 innings at an economy of 7.04. Ashwin provides a great balance to the team, and his presence will help India achieve certain goals.

Bowlers

T. Natarajan has been a revelation in IPL 2022 as he is second on the list of purple cap and has produced magical displays for SRH, which could make him a favourite contender in the starting XI for T20 World Cup. The speedster is famous for his death-bowling, which makes him a standout player, and he will be a menace if he gets the opportunity.

Jasprit Bumrah, regardless of his performance, Bumrah will be most likely to get in the starting XI. But hopefully, he will be back to his best before the biennial extravaganza.

Yuzvendra Chahal is in the form of his life in the ongoing edition of IPL 2022. He is the frontrunner for purple cap contention with 18 wickets to his name. The spinner is the favourite to make it to the starting XI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been decent, and he could be an option during powerplays where his bowling can be useful to give tough times to batters, where they will have the best chance to score big runs.
