The 9th match of the Big Bash League 2020 (BBL) is set to take place between Perth Scorchers and the table-toppers Melbourne Stars at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston. Melbourne Stars have been undefeated this season and have also managed to the big bash extra point in both the matches, which places them on top with 8 points.

Perth Scorchers are dwelling at the bottom as they ended up on the losing side against the Melbourne Renegades by 7 wickets. Though it is too early to take a call on the team's standings for this season, it could be safe to say that the Scorchers would like to open their account as they would not want to find themselves at the bottom of the table going further into the tournament.

Melbourne Stars on the other side have managed to defeat the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder and would be hoping they can continue their winning momentum going forward.

Can Glenn Maxwell and Co. make it three in three? Or will the Scorchers will be able to make a move in the points table?

Weather Report

The conditions are in transgression for an ideal game of cricket as it is reported to be cloudy and expected to drizzle. Said that the forecast does predict the drizzle only lasts for some time and nothing that can threaten the game. The temperature is expected to hover in the 18-15 degree range and the humidity at the peak is expected to reach the 73 percent mark.

Pitch

The pitch in Launceston as seen in the last match is ideal for the batsman to play their shots. Said that the first few overs of the innings with the new ball and rolled pitch will be a challenge for the batsmen. The pacers were generating a good amount of swing and both the teams lost their openers early but the middle-order seems to do a decent job. Any score of 165 plus is likely to put the chasing team in a spot of bother.

Team News

Though on the losing end in their opening match of the season, It does look too early to take a call on the player’s form especially given the long break few players came from. They are likely to go ahead with the same Playing Xl for this encounter.

Melbourne Stars on the other side have not yet tasted defeat and for that reason, they would be more than happy to feature the same Playing Xl that have been scoring the points on the table for them.
