After a dominating show over the West Indies in the ODI series which the hosts ended up winning 3-0. They will now take on the West Indies in the longest format of the game. The two-match series is scheduled to begin on the 3rd of February.

This series will also be part of the ICC Test World Championship. Both the teams find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table. But the series stands to be an important one for both the teams as if the hosts manage to white-wash the visitors, they could see themselves replace West Indies in the table.

West Indies are just 6 points behind the 6th placed Sri Lanka and a series win here could see them leap to the 6th place. Though West Indies struggled to make any mark in the ODI series, they would be hoping they can bounce back with the red ball.

The task would not be as easy as it was for the Bangladesh team. West Indies played a relatively inexperienced side for the ODIs but now have their key players- Kraigg Brathwaite, Jermaine Blackwood, Shannon Gabriel, and Kemar Roach back into the side. The return of these players is certain to have made the West Indies camp more confident in going ahead.

The last time the teams clashed against each other in the test format, It was the Asian team that tasted victory after managing to white-wash the Windies team. Can they replicate the same performance? Or will West Indies bounce back?

Match Toss Time: 09:00 Local (08:30 IST)

Match Start Time: 09:30 Local (09:00 IST)

Match Venue: Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram

Weather Report

The conditions are very cricket friendly as clear skies are expected throughout the course of the five days. The temperature is expected to be hovering in the 23-19 degree Celsius and the humidity at the peak is likely to touch the 55 percent mark.

Pitch

The last match played at this venue was between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The match saw complete domination by the spinners and also saw Afghanistan create history by defeating the hosts. The spinners are expected to be playa crucial role and the pitch is expected to be bowlers paradise on Day 4 and Day 5.

The team winning the toss should be looking to bat first as chasing even a modest total would be difficult on this slow strip.

Team News

Bangladesh will be relieved by the availability of their key all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The 33-year old who suffered from a groin injury in the last match of the ODI series has been adjourned fit to play just in time. While their skipper- Mominul Haque is expected to open the innings along with the experienced Tamim Iqbal.

They do also possess a strong bowling line-up which includes the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hassan, and Shakib Al Hasan. Yasir Ali Chowdary is likely to make his test debut in this game.

West Indies on the other side have few of their experienced players back in the line-up. Kraigg Braithwaite will lead the team and the return of Kemar Roach and Jermaine Blackwood does add the balance to the team.

Given the track is ideal for spinners. Windies would be looking to go ahead with Rakheem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican as their spin options. The players too showed great touch in the warm-up match and that does promise us the series would not be one-way traffic like the ODIs.
