Shane Watson would not be playing IPL next season as he has retired from all forms of cricket. It was a good decision as Watson looked completely at odds in IPL 2020. It was highly likely that he would be released from the CSK squad for next season, and go unsold in the auction. There are a few other players who may be released and go unsold in the next year's IPL auction. Cricwizz takes a look at those players.

1) Kedar Jadhav

Jadhav portrayed a sorry picture of himself in IPL 2020. He was a liability to the Chennai Super Kings this season. And surprisingly, CSK captain MS Dhoni kept picking him. Jadhav had failed to put bat to ball this season, and scored just 62 runs @ 20.66 at a strike rate of 93.93 in 8 games this season.

He usually came out to bat in the death overs, but just could not force the pace. He was not called on to bowl this season.

It's all but over for Jadhav, and is likely he'll be released from the CSK squad. And it will be a miracle if he gets a bid in the next year's IPL auction.

2) Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell was hired at a shocking price of Rs 10.75 crore for the 2020 IPL. And he was a big flop this season and that contributed to KXIP's early ouster from the tournament. For the record, Maxwell ended up IPL 2020 season without hitting a single six. He played 13 matches for Punjab this IPL season, and could score just 108 runs @ 15.42, and at a strike rate of 101.88. He could manage just 3 wickets this season. The Maxwell of old is no longer there now.

3) Imran Tahir

CSK's strategies were exposed this season as they refrained from using their most successful bowler of last season – Imran Tahir. And when they did use him, it was too late as CSK were knocked out of the tournament. Tahir played 3 matches this season, and picked up a solitary wicket.

With CSK planning to build for the future, they might just release Tahir, who might not get a buyer for the next season. Also, with Tahir turning 42 next season, franchises just might refrain from bidding on him, especially when there are a lot of talented spinners around.

4) Dwayne Bravo

The West Indian all-rounder was not in his best of form this season. He batted so low down the order that he hardly got a chance to face the ball. And when he did in 2 of the 6 matches he played this season, he could score just 7 runs as he has to go after the bowling straightaway. His bowling too could not do the magic as he could pick up just 6 wickets before being ruled out with an injury. At 37, he may not just fit into CSK's plans while other teams may just overlook him for fresher legs.

5) Andrew Tye

The Australian bowler has had a nightmarish time in the only game he played this season for Rajasthan Royals. He went for 50 runs for a wicket, and didn't play again. Tye seems to have lost all his skills with the ball, and is a done force now. It's highly likely Royals will release him from the squad. And franchises will be wary of bidding on a bowler who just leaks runs and lacks the will to take wickets.
