India beat Bangladesh by 1 run in 2016 World T20
India were under pressure to win the game after losing to New Zealand in the inaugural match. But they produced a below-par performance with the bat to manage just 146/7.
Bangladesh looked comfortably placed to win the match and knock India out when Mushfiqur Rahim slammed two fours in the last over bowled by Hardik Pandya to bring down the equation to 2 runs off 3 balls.
And then Bangladesh threw it away, losing three wickets in last three balls to lose the match by just a run.
MS Dhoni’s sprinting to the crease to run out Mustafizur Rahman on the last ball will remain immortal in the T20I journey.
WI beat India by 1 run in 2016 Lauderhill T20I
Evin Lewis cracked 100 off 49 balls to set up a big total of 245/6 on a flat deck at Lauderhill. India responded well, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul showing the way. At one stage, it looked India will sail through with ease.
But Dwayne Bravo’s last over changed the course of the match. India needed 8 runs off 6 balls and Bravo bowled perfect length balls to restrict Rahul and MS Dhoni. With two needed off 1 ball, Dhoni gave an easy catch to Marlon Samuels, leaving Rahul and India heartbroken at 110 not out.
Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by 1 run at Dehradun in 2018
Afghanistan have won the series 2-0 going into the third T20I. Bangladesh looked favourites to pull one back when asked to chase just 146. Bangladesh were cruising to the chase at 137/4 needing 9 runs off 6 balls with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah at the crease.
But Rashid Khan kept things tight, dismissing Rahim on the first ball. Bangladesh needed 4 runs off the last ball, but Bangladesh could manage just two with Mahmudullah being run-out going for the single to draw the match.
South Africa beat WI by 1 run at North Sound in 2020
South Africa posted a low total of 120/7 and had West Indies struggling at 2 for 9. But West Indies fought back with Darren Bravo cracking 40. But South Africa kept taking wickets at regular intervals, dismissing Kieron Pollard in the 19th over. It boiled down to 15 runs off 6 balls with Darren Sammy at the crease. Sammy took 11 runs off the first fours balls, with 2 fours, to reduce it 4 runs off 2 balls.
N Deonarine got run out going for the second. With 3 needed off 1 ball, West Indies could manage just a single to lose by a run.
South Africa beat England by 1 run at East London in 2020
South Africa posted a competitive total of 177/8 but stared at defeat with Jason Roy cracking 38-ball 70 and Eoin Morgan making 34-ball 52. England were cruising at 152/4 at 17.3 overs needing 27 off 14 balls. But England lost Ben Stokes and Eoin Morgan in quick succession, but they were still favourites to win, needing 7 off 6 balls.
Lungi Ngidi, who has gone for 25/1 in 3 overs, then bowled South Africa to victory. Ngidi conceded just 5 runs and took two wickets, plus a run-out, to steal a win by just a run.
