Suresh Raina reckons the former Indian captain MS Dhoni changed the face of Indian cricket since taking over the leadership duties and his presence in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dressing room creates an aura.
Dhoni led India to a World Cup triumph in his very first tournament as captain, as India beat Pakistan in the final of the first ever T20 World Cup which was organized in South Africa in 2007.
Dhoni was, thereafter, given the charge of the Indian team in the other two formats of the game within a year and he won another World Cup as the captain of India in 50-over cricket in 2011.
The 38-year old has been equally good as the captain of his IPL franchise CSK as well, as he has captained CSK to three IPL titles and two Champions League titles so far.
IPL 2020 will be Dhoni’s 11th season as CSK captain and Raina is confident the team will excel under” captain coo” once again.
“I think we have the best captain who has changed the Indian team like anything. Now we have that same aura in our dressing room,” Raina said on Star Sports..
Raina has big expectations from the new players that CSK has signed for IPL 2020 as he reckons all the new signings will add a lot of value to the squad. CSK’s most expensive overseas signing for IPL 2020 is Sam Curran who is an all-rounder from England.
Curran might not get a chance to play for CSK straightaway as Dwayne Bravo is CSK’s first choice all-rounder, however the English southpaw will surely get his opportunity at some stage in the season.
“This year we have a lot of new talent in our team. Piyush (Chawla) is there, then we have Hazelwood, Sam Curran, I think we have a lot of mixture of youngsters and seniors.” Raina said about the new signings.
