Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni has constantly been in the news ever since he was excluded from BCCI’s list of Annual contracts awarded to the contracted Indian players.
As a result, there was a general feeling among the Dhoni fans, and in the social media in general, if the the former Indian skipper has had enough of international cricket in the India colors.
Dhoni, who last played featured at the international level in India’s shocking Semi-Final exit in the World Cup against New Zealand, hasn’t featured in any games thereafter.
As questions continue to loom around his future with the Indian team, CSK owner N Srinivasan made a huge revelation about Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
At a recent event, Srinivasan was quite clear to express that the wicket-keeper batsman will continue to feature in the IPL for at least another two years for Chennai Super Kings.“MS Dhoni will play this year. And next year he will be in the auction and he will be retained,” he mentioned.
Ahead of the IPL 2021, it is well known that a full-strength IPL auction will be conducted as teams will be asked to release most of their players with a maximum room of retaining or using the RTM card for up to five players.
Dhoni, who will continue to play for CSK in IPL 2020, as told by Srinivasan, is also certain to feature in the league next year as one of CSK’s marquee players in the season.
Dhoni has always been the central figure for the Yellow Army in their three title wins in the lucrative league. With a established connection with the huge fan base for the franchise, the 38-year old is a fan favorite for the people of Chennai.
While it still remains to be seen will Dhoni get to taste the international flavor in the Indian team or not, it is certain that he will continue to remain a huge influencing character in the Indian T20 league for the next couple of years.
