The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is only a few months away before the T20 carnival takes center stage with all the eight teams eyeing that elusive IPL trophy.
The auction for the upcoming edition was held in Kolkata last year, where all the eight franchises looked to pick the best suitable players in order to build a strong squad for IPL 2020.
A move to include quality all-rounders from the given pool of players was quite palpable among the franchises at the auction table. It was enough an indication of how crucial is it to have all-rounders, who can be trusted to deliver both with bat and ball.
Here we take a look at 3 best Indian all-rounders in IPL this season:
1. Hardik Pandya – Mumbai Indians
The younger of the Pandya brothers, Hardik Pandya is undoubtedly India’s best seam-bowling all-rounder at the moment. Pandya, who is currently out of action with his back injury, is soon expected to make his return to the international cricket before he gets ready for another IPL season with Mumbai Indians.
Pandya owes a lot of his success to his stint with MI, and has made sure that he never let his team down in moments that demand delivery. Hardik is a powerful striker of the ball and has the ability to tonk the ball hard and long. He is a much-improved bowler in all formats and forms an indispensable part of the Mumbai setup in the IPL.
Ever since his acquisition with Mumbai in 2015, Pandya has emerged as a smart cricketer with an enhanced set of skills in every edition of the league.
2. Ravindra Jadeja: Chennai Super Kings
Ravindra Jadeja will be a vital cog for the Dhoni-led franchise in the upcoming IPL edition. Jadeja, who was one of the retained players in IPL 2018, has been a regular appearance in CSK’s matches in every season. He is known to deliver with his accurate left-arm spin and has even enhanced his reputation as an all-rounder in the Indian team.
In the last couple of seasons, the all-rounder was even-handed with an extra responsibility to finish off games with the bat. In 170 games in the IPL, Jadeja has scored 1972 runs along with 108 wickets to his name.
In the only home game in IPL 2018, Jadeja played a major hand in finishing off the game. He’s a live wire on the field and saves crucial runs with his spectacular efforts. It will be interesting to see how he goes about his business in IPL 2020.
3. Shivam Dube: Royal Challengers Bangalore
India all-rounder Shivam Dube has had a refreshing last couple of months after he was awarded for his form in the domestic cricket by a maiden call-up in the Indian T20I squad. Dube was impressive when the responsibility was handed over to him and delivered when it mattered the most.
It will be nice for his IPL franchise if he can carry the confidence and the learning into the new IPL season. He would be eager to impress the selectors and stay in the reckoning for India’s T20 World squad with a string of match-winning performances for the Kohli-led side in the next IPL edition.
He hasn’t attained much success in the IPL, but his ability to use the long handle and smash sixes at will makes him a dangerous option in the lower-order. he can even roll his arm over as a sixth bowling option and bowl a few overs of medium-pace when required.
