Brendon McCullum, the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has offered support to Chris Green after the bowler’s suspension over illegal bowling action.
Green’s bowling action was found illegal in the ongoing BBL and he has been suspended from bowling for three months. The off spinner will be able to bowl only after he gets a clearance in the next bio-mechanical test.
Since Green’s suspension has been announced, there have been question marks over his participation in the IPL. The KKR fans are wondering whether the 26-year old will feature in the tournament or not.
Although Green’s suspension doesn’t bar him from playing in the IPL, the fact that he has been asked to go through the bio-mechanical test again in three months’ time won’t allow him to be in India for the start of the IPL.
However, McCullum wants Green to travel to India. According to the former Blackcaps skipper, KKR has got some coaches in its set-up who specialize in bowling technicalities. They can help Green tweak little things in his action and get it cleared.
McCullum insists that Green can get his action cleared in India as well, as India also has a bio-mechanical testing centre in Chennai to test the legality of bowling actions.
However, McCullum is not sure if Green’s clearance from the bio-mechanical testing centre in Chennai will be accepted by Cricket Australia (CA).
“There’s a testing centre in Chennai. So if we were to fly Chris to India, do some work with some of our guys who are experts in that area, and he’s able to make some quick adjustments, and then we get him tested at the ICC centre there in Chennai, would that then allow him to play in the BBL?” McCullum asked his fellow commentators while he was on air during a BBL game.
