All the rumours doing the rounds regarding a possible transfer of Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals ahead of the next season, seem to have been put to rest.
The Kings XI Punjab co-owner, Ness Wadia, confirmed on the news as both the franchises settled on a common view to initiate the trade-off involvingAshwin.
In the past, there was an exaggerated view regarding Delhi Capitals showing a possible interest in the Indian off-spinner, who was expected to be released by Kings XI ahead of the next season.
These reports, however, were rejected by Ness Wadia, who claimed that no such negotiation occurred between the two franchise.
It also came up through the reports, that due to the financial matters, there was a u-turn on the possible deal between the two teams.
Meanwhile, KXIP also appointed Anil Kumble as their head coach which sort of confirmed that Ashwin will no longer be traded off after Wadia claimed that he was an integral part of the team.
However, according to the latest developments on the entire episode, it is learnt that both the teams have mutually agreed upon a deal.
This also means that Ashwin will now be seen playing for Delhi in the next season. In the trade-off, Delhi let go of two of their players as they look to avail India’s talismanic spinner’s services for the next season.
One of the senior BCCI officials threw more light to clear the air on the matter. He also mentioned one of the prime reasons why the deal couldn’t succeed earlier as the Kings could not get the two DC players they wished in exchange of Ashwin.
With Ashwin all set to leave KXIP after a period of two years, the Punjab-based franchise will once again have to hunt for a player who could lead their franchise in IPL 2020.
