The World Cup 2019 has begun and we have already witnessed two cracker of matches in the last two days. The matches were, however, more of one sided games.
As we advance, the weekend is packed with exciting matches. One such game will be played on Saturday, between Afghanistan and Australia.
The Aussie side is considered to be the most successful cricketing side ever. With 5 World Cups currently, Australia rightly justify that tag. Afghanistan ride a completely different boat, on the contrary.
The Afghan side is only making its second ever World Cup appearance in this edition, but is packed with confidence. Afghanistan sure does pack potential players who have been performing and leaving their mark in the International leagues, in the recent times. Players like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been playing in international T20 cricket all over the globe and are regarded highly by all their team mates and experts.
Afghanistan is sure expected to give a fight and show resistance against the Aussies, during their face-off.
Afghanistan (Probable XI): Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib (C), Rashid Khan, Dawlat Zadran, Hamid Hassan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Australia (Probable XI): David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Aaron Finch (C), Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins, Jason Behrendorff, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.
Rashid Khan vs David Warner
Ever since his debut, Rashid Khan has been the talk of the town. The 20 year old youngster is currently ranked 3rd in the ICC ODI rankings. With 125 wickets in just 56 innings, Rashid has a strike rate of 23 and averages 15.
The youngster is predicted to play a key role and lead the bowling attack.
On the other hand, we have the in-form David Warner. The destructive leftie is in mighty form and is expected to tear through the Afghan bowling unit. Warner was also the highest run getter in the last edition of the Indian Premier League.
Warner has over 4000 runs in ODIs in just over 100 games, with an average of 43 and a strike rate of 96.
Ever since his return to International cricket after the ban, Warner has been in quality touch and has been performing consistently.
The duo’s clash will surely be a battle to watch out for as both are at the top of their game.
Mohammad Nabi vs Mitchell Starc
The number 3 ranked all-rounder is currently in a good form and was the key factor to his side’s win against Pakistan, during their warm up game. Nabi has been in decent touch ever since the IPL and has performed for team, whenever required. The 34 year old has over 2600 ODI runs and 118 wickets in 112 matches.
Mitch Starc, the former No.1 ODI bowler has had a rough patch in the recent times because of his injuries. Starc was having a tremendous run with the ball before his injury, but had to take a back seat, as the last one year has been unfortunate for him.
With 145 wickets in just 75 matches, Starc has a healthy average of 21 and a strike-rate of 25. Undoubtedly, Starc is still a highly respected bowler and will be seen leading the Aussie pace attack in this World Cup.
