The finals of the 2019 Indian Premier League sees old foes competing against each other. Defending Champions and three-time winners Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians, who have also laid hands on the trophy for three times. Whichever team wins today will become the most successful franchise in the history of the IPL.
Both the teams have already played each other thrice in the finals of the IPL. While in 2010 it was Chennai Super Kings who had gone on to lift the trophy for the very first time after defeating Mumbai Indians in the finals, the vice-versa happened in 2013 when Mumbai prevailed over the Super Kings to lift the IPL trophy for the very first time.
The third time these two sides met in the Finals was in the year 2015 wherein again Mumbai emerged winners at the cost of CSK. This will be thus their fourth meeting in IPL Finals. Ageing like fine wine, Imran Tahir at the age of 40 has set IPL 2019 on fire. One of the reasons why Chennai have been dominating this season, Tahir has picked wickets at crucial intervals for CSK. Whenever Chennai are in dire need of wickets, Dhoni has always turned to Tahir and the talismanic South African has repaid MSD’s faith.
Tahir has already picked up 24 wickets in 16 matches with an economy rate of 6.65 in IPL 12. In 54 IPL matches, the spinner has picked up 77 wickets at an average of 20.62 with a healthy economy rate of 7.88.
Jasprit Bumrah vs MS Dhoni
Arguably the best bowler in the world presently, Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t yet staged the set on fire in this year’s IPL. However, knowing the capabilities of this Indian youngster, one can surely not write him off. MS Dhoni has been in sublime form in this IPL season scoring 414 runs in 14 matches at a mind-boggling average of 103.50. With an S/R of 137.54, Dhoni has scored 3 fifties with his highest score being 84 not out. In his IPL career, the CSK skipper has scored 4430 runs at an impressive average of 42.59. With an S/R of 138.13, he further has 23 fifties to his name.

Since the match is to be played in Hyderabad, one can expect a run-feast.
