Rajasthan Royals are all set to host Sunrisers Hyderabad in a must-win game for the two sides in the ongoing Indian Premier League, tonight.
This is going to be a second meeting between the two clubs this season. The last time, SRH got better of RR as they defeated them by a margin of five wickets. Sanju Samson scored a brilliant century in this match. However, the opening partnership between David Warner and Jonny Bairstow took away the limelight from the RR keeper-batsman.
As of now, Rajasthan have won four out of their 11 fixtures and are currently in the seventh position with eight points. While Hyderabad have won five out of their 10 fixtures and are currently sitting in the fourth spot with 10 points in hand.
Rajasthan have been in a better form in comparison to Hyderabad in the last five games. The Rajasthan franchise have won three out of their last five IPL games while SRH have lost three out of their last five games. Hyderabad have lost two games consecutively that has provided some breath to the lower half of the table as they still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
In the last fixture, RR defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a close battle, which was won because of a brilliant batting from Riyan Parag and Jofra Archer. While SRH, on the other hand, lost to CSK, who became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
In today’s fixture both the sides are going to be without their key players. The England and Wales Cricket Board have called back their players for the practice of ICC Cricket World Cup. This means that Jonny Bairstow and Jofra Archer are not going to be part of the IPL anymore.
RR predicted line-up: Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson (W), Steve Smith (C), Liam Livingstone, Riyan Parag, Stuart Binny, Shreyas Gopal, Oshane Thomas, Jaydev Unadkat, Varun Aaron and Ish Sodhi.
SRH predicted line-up: David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, and Khaleel Ahmed.
Ajinkya Rahane vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar
It has been a good season for Ajinkya Rahane so far. The RR opener is just 18 runs behind the total runs he scored in the last season of IPL and there are still three games left in the ongoing season.
Rahane has scored 352 runs in his 11 appearances for RR this season with an average of 35.20. The Indian batsman has scored one half-century and a century in the current season. He is one of the reasons, why RR are still in the race for the playoffs. However, there is still a long way to go ahead.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, on the other hand, had a mixed season so far. The Indian pacer has picked eight wickets in his 10 appearances with an economy rate of 7.94. The SRH bowler has always been a key in picking early wickets for his side. However, it hasn’t been the same this season.
The Indian pacer gave away a lot of runs in the starting matches and hasn’t delivered his best yet. With four more games left in the IPL, everybody is expecting a lot from Bhuvneshwar as he is one of the key players, who can help SRH in reaching the playoffs.
Shreyas Gopal vs David Warner
It’s been a phenomenal season for both Shreyas Gopal and David Warner. The RR spinner has already taken more wickets than he took in the last season of IPL. Shreyas has picked 13 wickets in his 11 appearances for RR this season with an economy rate of 7.28.
His best bowling figure of the current season came against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Shreyas picked three wickets against RCB, which consisted of some big names like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Shimron Hetmyer.
Warner, on the other hand, returned to IPL after a break of one year. The Australian opener has been one of the most consistent players in the ongoing IPL. The SRH opener has scored 574 runs in his 10 appearances for Hyderabad.
The Australian opener has scored seven half-centuries and one century in the ongoing IPL season. This has also made him the highest run-scorer of the current season so far. The second name on the list is of Bairstow, who is more than 100 runs behind Warner.
