After two consecutive defeats for SRH against Mumbai and Punjab, they find themselves languishing at the bottom half of the table in the sixth position, and they would have to break this jinx against Delhi at Home if they are to move second in the points table.
Delhi, on the other hand, are on a winning streak of two matches after defeating Bangalore and Kolkata in their away games and would like to make a hat-trick of away wins and thus move second in the points table with ten points in 8 matches.
After the two defeats, SRH would look to bring in their usual skipper Kane Williamson back in the side and thus Mohammed Nabi who was hit all-round the park would have to make way for the Kiwi. The rest of the Hyderabad squad is expected to remain the same. Delhi, on the other hand, would continue to play the same team that has brought them recent success.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Probable XI): David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Kane Williamson (C), Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma.
Delhi Capitals (Probable XI): Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Colin Ingram, Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Rahul Tewatia, Keemo Paul, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma.
David Warner vs Kagiso Rabada
After missing out on playing competitive cricket for over a year, David Warner returned with a bang, assaulting the bowlers with 3 fifties and 1 century already in this season’s IPl. The leading overseas run-scorer in the IPL history, Warner has 4363 IPL career runs to his name. With an average of 42.35 in 120 innings, and with a strike-rate of 142.48, Warner is the batsman whom Delhi’s bowlers would need to target in the powerplay.
With 4 IPL centuries and 39 fifties, if Warner is set in the middle then Sunrisers will surely score in the excess of 200 which will be par in the batting friendly Hyderabad pitch.
Already picking up 13 wickets in 7 matches, Rabada averages 21.31 in IPL 12. His breath-taking performance in the super over against KKR helped Delhi register their second win of the season. He has 19 IPL career wickets in 13 matches with an average of 21.31. He further has an economy rate of 8.35 and is certainly the go-to bowler for DC to pick up wickets.
Rashid Khan vs Shikhar Dhawan
Rashid Khan has not been successful in picking up wickets this season, but he has certainly been successful in restricting runs. And this quality of his aids SRH as Rashid Khan is not only a genuine wicket-taking bowler but also an economical bowler who will put a check on opposition’s run flow. With 43 wickets in 37 matches and an impressive economy rate of 6.54, the Afghan bowler averages 22.23.
The DC batsmen especially the middle-order would have to negate him watchfully and not lose wickets in the middle overs or else they won’t be able to put up a big partnership and score big. Thus, the Delhi batsman should identify other SRH bowlers and go after them to uplift their run-rate while negating the threat of Rashid and playing him intelligently.
Having been bought by Delhi to anchor the young batting-order of Capitals, Shikhar Dhawan did the same against Kolkata as he remained not out for 97 and ensured that his team went on to win the match. Already with 2 fifties in this seasons IPL, Dhawan has scored 249 in 7 innings with an impressive average of 41.50.
Overall, Dhawan has scored 4307 IPL runs with 34 fifties to his name. He averages 33.64 at an S/R of 123.79. If he gets set on a batsmen paradise at Hyderabad, Delhi are almost certain to victory as was evident in the KKR match, thus SRH bowlers would need to have him at cheap to prevent the destruction.

The Hyderabad pitch is a batting friendly pitch coupled up with fast outfield and the presence of dew. Thus, the team batting first would have to score in excess of 200 which would be a par total, however, the advantage will still lay at the hands of the team batting second. Hence, the toss will be a crucial decider for the outcome of this match as the winner will opt to field first.
