The nineteenth match of IPL 2019 sees table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad take on one of the most successful sides in IPL history, the Mumbai Indians. Fresh from defeating the high-flying Delhi side, SRH would now hope to extend their winning streak and thus sit comfortably at the top of the table courtesy of a superior net run-rate.
Mumbai, on the other hand, have played four, winning just two and they would hence like to march on as victors on this match too and thus solidify their stake at the top of the table. And seeing Mumbai’s recent form where they came out as victors against an unbeaten Chennai side, one would definitely expect the contest between SRH and MI to be enthralling.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to continue leading the side even though regular skipper, Kane Williamson is ruled fit. This is to maintain the overall team balance of the SRH side that is seeing two of their foreigners’ bat at a different level than the rest of the players. Mumbai too won’t like to experiment with the playing eleven that helped them crush Chennai at Chennai’s own den, and hence they are also expected to field the same eleven.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Probable XI): David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (Wk), Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (C), Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul.
Mumbai Indians (Probable XI): Quinton de Kock (Wk), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Jason Behrendorff.
David Warner vs Jasprit Bumrah
After missing out on playing competitive cricket for over a year, David Warner has returned in IPL with a bang, already assaulting the bowlers with 2 fifties and 1 century in this season’s IPL. The leading overseas run-scorer in the IPL history, Warner has 4278 IPL career runs to his name with 264 runs in 4 innings coming in this season only. With an overall IPL average of 41.94 in 118 innings, and with a strike-rate of 143.22, Warner is the batsman whom Delhi’s bowlers would need to target in the powerplay.
Arguably the best bowler in the world at present, Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t yet staged the set on fire in this year’s IPL. However, knowing the capabilities of this Indian youngster, one can surely not write him off. With only 4 wickets in 4 matches this season one can say Jasprit hasn’t performed to his true potential, however, one should also see that even though he hasn’t picked up any wickets, yet he has been impactful for his side with an economy of 7.02 in 4 innings in IPL 12.
Jasprit has picked up 67 wickets in 65 matches in his overall IPL career, with an economy of 7.74 which is very impressive considering he bowls mainly during death overs. With an IPL average of 28.16, Bumrah is the go-to bowler for Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma when he needs to curb runs or pick up wickets.
Rohit Sharma vs Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan has not been successful in picking up wickets this season, but he has certainly been successful in restricting runs. And this quality of his aids SRH as Rashid Khan is not only a genuine wicket-taking bowler but also an economical bowler who will keep a check on opposition’s run flow. With 41 wickets in 35 matches and an impressive economy rate of 6.58, the Afghan bowler averages 22.17.
If his side are to counter the hard-hitting batsmen of Mumbai, such as de Kock, Rohit, Hardik and Pollard, Rashid would have to be the key in not only being economical but also getting the batsmen out for cheap.
One of the best limited overs batsman in today’s generation, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma is the main batsman for Mumbai. Once set, he can hit boundaries at ease and can quickly take away the game from the hands of his opposition.
With just 400 runs short to be the third batsman to have scored 5000 IPL runs, Rohit has scored 4600 IPL runs at an average of 31.72. With 1 IPL century and further 34 fifties to his name, the Indian vice-captain has a healthy strike-rate of 131.01 which further proves why he is regarded as one of the most talented and destructive batsman in modern time.

The match between SRH and MI is going to be an enthralling affair as neither team would give an inch to each other. Both the teams have great players amongst their ranks, but Team Cricwizz predicts that MI will win the match. This is due to the simple reason that MI have good bowlers amongst their ranks who if dismiss Bairstow and Warner cheaply will dictate the game for Mumbai.
On the other hand, SRH have good spinners but only Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a quality pacer in their squad and this season he has not been in his usual best. Considering the Hyderabad pitch to be batting friendly, one expects Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul to leak runs which will be a bonus to the Mumbai team.
