The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League is under way, and in the eleventh encounter we will be witnessing Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad side, led by New Zealander Kane Williamson is one that has dished out consistent performances in the IPL with a winner’s trophy to their credit (incidentally beating RCB). They possess a potent blend of foreign and Indian talent, that has proven itself time and again. They lost against Kolkata Knight Riders in a fiercely contested match and saw their fortunes being reversed against Rajasthan Royals.
On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore has historically performed below par in the IPL, and has finished second in three occasions. They boast of a squad with rich depth and variety in the batting department, thanks to a pool of enviable foreign talent. With inexperienced local T20 specialists in their squad, the Virat Kohli-led outfit might not have the mileage to go all the way.
Hyderabad are expected to field David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan as their overseas players in the playing eleven, along with Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul, Shahbaz Nadeem and Sandeep Sharma.
Bangalore are expected to play AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali, Shimron Hetmyer and Tim Southee as their overseas players, along with their captain Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Shivam Dube, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj.

David Warner vs Yuzvendra Chahal
David Warner had been the Australian team’s mainstay as an opener for many years till he was sanctioned with a ban. His staking a claim to the World Cup team depends on this IPL and the southpaw is a ferocious hitter of the cricket ball and an enterprising cricketer with a vast array of attacking shots. His ability to attack from the word go, makes him a very crucial player and a tough competitor. Warner is absolutely lethal on his day.
Yuzvendra Chahal is arguably one of the best spinners in the world circuit, and possesses many bowling varieties. The wrist-spinner from Haryana is extremely wily and induces false attacking shots from the opposition batsmen often, due to which he is a potent force to reckon with. He has a proven track record of being a wicket-taker for RCB too.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs AB de Villiers
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been very effective with the ball and has demonstrated his innate ability to take wickets at regular intervals. He takes on the mantle of being the new-ball bowler for SRH, and has thus far not given a selection headache to his captain as far as his place in the team is concerned. Whether he gets to move the ball at the start of the innings, will be key in a pitch like Hyderabad, that has traditionally offered scant help to the seamers.
AB de Villers has been a rock-solid presence in the RCB, and has stitched many scintillating partnerships with Virat Kohli. The ex-Proteas legend has more than 4000 runs in IPL matches. He almost won RCB its last game against the Mumbai Indians, and his experience and runs will definitely be vital if Bangalore were to stand a chance of upsetting the Nizam’s troops.
Taking into consideration the experience of the Sunrisers team, coupled with their superlative home record, Team CricWizz predicts that the Sunrisers Hyderabad would win its match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. But Bangalore could be unpredictable in this tournament, and they can most definitely not be written off.
