After ending up in the losing side in their respective opening matches of the IPL 2019, both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will look to go all out and try to register a win. Sunrisers Hyderabad were undone by Andre Russell’s blitzkrieg while the game between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab was marked by controversy after Punjab’s skipper Ravichandran Ashwin ‘mankaded’ well-set Jos Butler which paved the way for Punjab’s win.
Although Hyderabad’s skipper, Kane Williamson, was injured and out in the last match, he is most certain to return for the next game. He along with David Warner will form the opening pair for Sunrisers, while Jonny Bairstow might get an extended run in the team after impressing against the KKR. Rashid Khan is expected to be the sole foreigner in the Hyderabad bowling setup as we expect it is Shakib Al Hasan who might get the axe, due to Williamson’s return into the team.
The rest of the players are expected to remain the same, except Sandeep Sharma who might have to make his way out from the playing eleven in place of Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed. Thus, the Indians who might don the Hyderabad jersey are Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed, Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Manish Pandey, and Deepak Hooda.
Rajasthan Royals are expected to field the same four foreigners into their playing eleven. Jos Butler, Steven Smith, Jofra Archer, and Ben Stokes will play along with Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathy, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jaydev Unadkat and Dhawal Kulkarni. One player who is expected to come into the side is batsman Manan Vohra to solidify Royal’s batting, and Shreyas Gopal is set to make way for the former KXIP man.
David Warner vs Jofra Archer
After missing out on playing competitive cricket for over a year, David Warner returned with a bang, assaulting the KKR bowlers with a well-made 85 of 53 deliveries which almost guaranteed the SRH of a win against KKR before an Andre Russell’s blitzkrieg took the match away from the hands of SRH. The same is expected from Warner in this match as well since he has been one of the most consistent batsmen for SRH over the years.
Warner is the first overseas batsman in the IPL history to have reached the 4000-run mark, while he also tops the leading run-scorer list for overseas batsmen in the IPL. With an average of 40.99 in 115 innings along with a strike-rate of 142.47, Warner is the batsman whom Rajasthan Royals would need to target in the powerplay and try to get him out cheaply to stay in the game. Cause with 3 IPL centuries and 37 fifties, if Warner gets set in the middle then Sunrisers will score a hefty amount of runs which will just make things difficult for Rajasthan.
Jofra Archer is one name who is making waves in the British Isles. The Caribbean born English player will qualify for England Cricket Team next month and is most certain to debut for them against Pakistan in May. In the 2018 IPL season, Archer impressed all by picking up 15 wickets in mere 10 matches, and thus he is one of the key bowlers for Rajasthan this time around. With an economy rate of 7.98 and average of 22.80, SRH would have to negate him intelligently if they have to dictate the game against RR.
Rashid Khan vs Jos Butler
Although Rashid Khan was not successful in picking up wickets in the last match, but he was successful in restricting runs. And this is a huge plus point for Rashid Khan who not only is a genuine wicket-taking bowler but also an economical bowler who will put a check on opposition’s run flow. With 39 wickets in 32 matches, with an impressive economy rate of 6.68 and averaging 21.58, RR batsmen would really have to play him carefully and watchfully and not lose wickets in the middle overs to him, otherwise, they won’t be able to put up a good score. Thus, the Rajasthan batsman should identify other SRH bowlers and go after them to uplift their run-rate while also not losing any wicket.
Averaging 54.80 last season after he was promoted as an opener; Jos Butler has continued his form from the last season to this season too. He almost single-handedly won RR their opening fixture against KXIP before he was controversially ‘Mankaded’ by Punjab’s skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. Having played in 38 matches in IPL, Butler has scored 1144 runs at an average of 35.75 with an astonishing strike-rate of 151.12. With 7 fifties already in his belt, this season could be remembered as Butler’s IPL if he lives up to his potential.

Given that Sunrisers Hyderabad have one of the most balanced line-up in their wings with a proper blend of Indian youngsters and International cricketers, and seeing the bowling line-up that Rajasthan possesses which is totally unproven and not experienced, Team CricWizz expects SRH to easily win the match and register 2 points in the IPL points table.
