Delhi Capitals & Chennai Super Kings have secured comfortable wins in their opening matches of the IPL and will now face each other in their second match at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. The mighty CSK had a one-sided affair against the strong RCB team and once again MSD displayed his shrewd captaincy by introducing Harbhajan Singh in the powerplay. The turbonator dented RCB’S batting line-up to set up an easy home win for CSK.
But it’ll be interesting to see how the CSK’s one-dimensional pace attack will perform on a flat batting deck. They have enough resources in the spin department, but it is their pace attack which is looking thin after Lungi Ngidi’s injury which further curbed their pace attack. Against RCB, they fielded only 3 overseas players and we can expect either Faf du Plessis or David Willey to come into the playing XI. Apart from that, no change is expected in their side.
On the other hand, the new looking Delhi franchise started their IPL 2019 campaign with a resounding win over three-time champions Mumbai Indians. Local boy Shikhar Dhawan’s inclusion to the side brings solidarity to their batting line-up, which they lacked in previous seasons. With Dhawan at top, Delhi can rotate all the young & energetic hitters around him. If Chris Morris reaches in time for the match, then he may replace Keemo Paul which will further strengthen their depth in both, batting and bowling departments. Apart from this, no change is expected of Delhi.
Rishabh Pant v Dwayne Bravo
Rishabh Pant has already started IPL 2019 with a bang after scoring a blistering 27 balls 78* which also included 7 sixes, that eventually blew MI off. He even hit Jasprit Bumrah, one of the best death bowlers in the current generation, to all parts of the ground. In a total of 39 IPL games, Pant has scored 1326 runs at a whopping strike rate of 167 and an average of 37.88 with 128* being his highest IPL score against SRH last year.
Dwayne Bravo was the first bowler to win Purple Cap twice in 2013 & 2015. The Trinidad born player is known for his deceptive slower deliveries in the death with which he has bamboozled many T20 stars in all the major league round the World. In 123 IPL games, Bravo has scalped 137 wickets at an average of 23.72 with 4/22 being his best. His economy of 8.40 is slightly on the higher side but one has to consider the fact that he bowls mostly in the death overs.
Trent Boult v MS Dhoni
Since his debut, Trent Boult has emerged as one of the best left-arm pacers in the World. He made his IPL debut in 2015 and has till now scalped 34 wickets in 29 IPL games at an average of 29.38 with 3/19 being his best. His economy of 8.8 is a worrying factor but his knack for getting big batsmen out is an asset for Delhi Capitals.
MS Dhoni is already an IPL legend with 3 titles to his name alongside holding numerous batting and keeping records. We have seen some gargantuan finishes from him over the years, and the same is expected of him this season too. In the 176 IPL matches that he has appeared in, he has amassed over 4000 runs at an average of 40.16 boosted by a strike rate of 138.
Considering the match is at Delhi Capitals home ground Feroz Shah Kotla and after their commanding display with the bat against Mumbai Indians, Team Cricwizz predicts Delhi Capitals to win this home encounter against Chennai Super Kings. Though CSK had an easy win against RCB, the only problem is their fast bowling which will be a weak link on batting friendly pitches.
