It looks T20 cricket is passe, as T10 cricket is grabbing headlines. And innovative shots are being executed left, right and centre in the league. Current and former cricketers are participating in the T10 League in Sharjah at the moment. And news coming in from T10 League states it’s a big hit there. The likes of Virender Sehwag, James Faulkner, Dwayne Bravo are too participating in the league. The new leg-spin sensation Rashid Khan is too playing the league and is making news with both bat and ball.
Playing for Maratha Arabians, Rashid Khan played a brilliant cameo of 21 runs off 7 deliveries against Pakhtoon. The highlight of his cameo was a helicopter shot executed to perfection, alike MS Dhoni’s trademark shot, for a six.
Rashid reached out to a ball on the off-side and rotated his wrist to execute a brilliant helicopter shot for a six off the bowling off Mohammad Irfan. Rashid Khan stayed in his follow-through for a few seconds as the ball sailed out of the stadium even as his teammate Sehwag stood up to applaud the shot from the stands.
Rashid struck two sixes and two fours in his 21 runs and came back to concede just 18 runs in 2 overs. Maratha Arabians made 125/6. However, they lost the match to Pakhtoon by 8 wickets.
Here’s Rashid Khan tweet sharing the video.

Rashid posted a video of the shot and gave credit to MS Dhoni as the ‘inventer’ of helicopter shot. Dhoni is known for playing helicopter shots to full-length deliveries and yorkers and hitting them out of the park. Although Dhoni may have lost some of his six-hitting abilities now, he is still remembered for his big hits, especially helicopter shot.
Earlier, another Afghanistan star Mohammad Shahzad made headlines when he struck 74 not-out in just 16 deliveries to help his team chase down a target of 95 runs in just 4 overs in the T10 League in Sharjah.
The T10 League final will happen on Dec 2.
