After a complete team effort in the Test series, Virat Kohli & Co. are set to take on Windies in a 5-match ODI series starting from October 21. Windies have suffered yet another setback in the form of Evin Lewis, who withdrew his name from the tour after being selected in both ODI and T20 squad. On the other hand, Indian selectors announced the squad for the first 2 ODIs so far. Here’s the prediction:
Batting strength – India are playing with their full strength ahead of the important Australia tour. Youngster Rishabh Pant has been included in the squad in place of Dinesh Karthik while MS Dhoni managed to retain his place. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Virat Kohli; all of them have been included in the side for the first 2 ODIs.
Shami in blue jersey – Mohammad Shami is back in the Men in Blue squad after being dropped from the side in the past. His recent heroics in the Test series earned him this place which he has to secure if he wants to play 2019 World Cup. Apart from Shami, Asia Cup star Khaleel Ahmed and Umesh Yadav will join the attack.
Loss at Barsapara Stadium – So far only one T20I took place in this stadium which India lost against Australia by 8 wickets. It was a bad start from the Indians which they would want to improve now. The first ODI between India and Windies will be the first-ever ODI at this ground and both the sides are preparing to take the much-needed lead by winning this one.
Marlon Samuels is back – Veteran Windies player Marlon Samuels is back in the ODI squad for this important tour. He has been exceptional for his side from the last 10-12 years. His inclusion will give his team some relaxation in the batting department which is inexperienced.
Gayle, Lewis withdrew – While Chris Gayle denied playing this series and informed the board earlier, Lewis, on the other hand, withdrew his name from the squad after being selected for this all-important series. These two swashbuckling openers could have been their strengths but now the Indians are clear favourites.
Cricwizz Prediction – India are favourites to win the first ODI to be played in Assam.
