Once again the rivalry would be on cloud nine this Sunday as India and Pakistan are set to take on each other in a Super Four encounter of the Asia Cup 2018. In the previous clash, Sharma & Co. dismantled Pakistan in their own fashion by beating them by 8 wickets. On the other hand, even after winning their previous game against Afghanistan, the Men in Green would be under immense pressure against India. Here’s the prediction:
Pace-battery – Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are two of the best pacers in the world right now. Both have produced some great performances so far in the tournament. The duo played a huge role in beating Pakistan and Bangladesh earlier by picking up 11 wickets. Once again the responsibility would be the same; not to give Pakistan any chance of scoring runs.
Sir Jadeja’s ODI comeback – Injuries to Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur helped Ravindra Jadeja earn the ODI call-up. He didn’t waste any time and picked up 4 wickets in the match against Bangladesh. The all-rounder also won the Man of the Match award for his remarkable show in the Super Four clash. The inclusion of Jaddu in the squad against Pakistan is surely on the cards and it will also raise the fielding bar.
Not getting early wickets can be a problem – We saw in the clash against Hong Kong that India were unable to get early wickets which almost took the match away from them. However, they got some early breakthroughs against Pakistan and Bangladesh. This time also, they need to get a couple of wickets in the first 10 overs to set the tone again.
Must Read: India vs Pakistan
Shoaib Malik: A match winner – It is rightly said that age is just a number and Shoaib Malik is proving this in almost every match of Asia Cup 2018. His technique, class and talent are still the same as it was 10-12 years ago. He played beautifully against Afghanistan and helped his side register a phenomenal victory in the last over. His batting would be crucial against India in the Super Sunday encounter.
Top order back in form – The side struggled against India last Wednesday but showed their class against Afghanistan on Friday especially the top order. Imam-Ul-Haq and Babar Azam played exceptionally well and gave their side a terrific start. Their form is an advantage for Pakistan in their clash against India.
Ordinary pace bowling – Pakistan have always been a side that generates brilliant fast bowlers. They still have some good bowlers in their side but their form has been ordinary till now. Mohammad Amir is the biggest example of it as he has been poor with his bowling which resulted in his ouster from the match against Afghanistan. Other speedsters are also finding it tough to take wickets.
Cricwizz Prediction: Pakistan would come up with some plan this time to save themselves from yet another loss. However, India could make one or two changes in their squad to get the best of their side against the Men in Green. India are having an edge here if they can take some early wickets in this Asia Cup ‘Super Four’ encounter.
