After 2 poor outings, Team India managed to win the 3rd Test with ease by 203 runs. It was a do or die encounter which India handled really well, credits to Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli for showing exceptional performance. The 4th Test match at Rose Bowl would once again be a do or die game for India against the hosts England. Here we are with the prediction of the match:
‘Kohli’ty in the batting line-up – Well, if there’s any 1 batsman on whom the whole nation can trust, then it has to be India’s skipper Virat Kohli. Apart from him, no one has impressed much in this series so far. Kohli has scored 440 runs so far in the 6 innings at an extraordinary average of 73.33. The Delhiite has scored 2 centuries and 2 fifties so far and is sitting at the top of the table. He has to fire in the 4th Test if India want to change the stats.
Pacers on track – This is probably the best pace-attack of India over the years. The likes of Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been amazing with the red ball so far. Apart from them, Hardik Pandya has been exceptional too. He was criticised in the first 2 Tests but made a superb comeback in the 3rd Test. Skipper Kohli would want his pacers to fire one more time to level the series.
Opening slot woes – Murali Vijay has failed badly so far while Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul too have disappointed their fans by not scoring up the order. In this case, India need to find a solution to score some runs in the beginning to remove some pressure from Virat Kohli. However, there were some improvement in the middle-order in the 3rd Test when Rahane, Pandya and Pujara showed some batting skills.
Anderson factor – James Anderson has showed why he is the best-ever pacer playing currently. He is on the top of the table right now with 17 wickets. The right-arm pacer would be ready once again to trouble the India batting line-up. He is just 7 wickets away from surpassing Glenn McGrath’s tally of 563 wickets.
Middle-order batting – Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler showed some promise in the series so far. Though they couldn’t score as much as Kohli did, the trio have been effective so far. Fans can expect some exceptional show at Southampton too.
Cook and Jennings’ poor show – Just like India, the hosts England are facing issues with their opening slot. the well-versed Alastair Cook and young gun Keaton Jennings have been silent with the bat in this series. There were speculations over their selection in the next 2 Tests but Coach Trevor Bayliss showed confidence in them.
Cricwizz Prediction – England have a better chance in this game despite India’s prolific performance in the 3rd Test.
