A superb 3-match ODI series came to an end with Bangladesh won it in the end 2-1. After winning the 1st game, the Asian side lost the 2nd one in the last over. It was a decider on Saturday where Tamim Iqbal once again showed his great temperament that lead to Bangladesh’s victory by 18 runs in the final ODI.
After batting first, Bangla Tigers set a target of 302 for Windies, thanks to Tamim’s sensational hundred and Mahmudullah’s unbeaten 67 in the end. On the bowling front, Jason Holder and Ashley Nurse picked up 2 wickets each while Devendra Bishoo and Sheldon Cottrell got 1 wicket each.
Windies too started in their own style with Gayle looking strong. Though they lost the wicket of Evin Lewis early, the team was capable of achieving this much with the strong batting line-up. People saw Gayle storm as he hit 73 off just 66 balls. Shai Hope and Rovman Powell too scored half-centuries but in the end, these were not enough for them to win the series. They lost the battle by 18 runs and Bangladesh won a sensational away series 2-1.
Tamim Iqbal was awarded the Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series Award for his brilliant performance throughout the series. He became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score more than 1 century in a bilateral series for his team.
Both the sides will now face each other in a 3-match T20I series starting from July 29 at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. However, the next two T20Is will take place at Lauderhill, Florida on August 4 and 5 respectively.
