A big sigh of relief for Zimbabwean cricket as ICC has confirmed to release funds to Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) to enable the board to pay the outstanding dues of the players and supporting staff. This payment is a part of ICC’s package of measures to help the debt-stricken board get back on its feet.
The release by ZC stated that, “Payment plan proposals will be discussed and communicated to all outstanding creditors once this process has been concluded. This brings welcome relief to the current staff and players and is the first step in the recovery process of cricket in Zimbabwe to its former health and strength.”
ZC will now hope that the big players will return to the squad for the next big international assignment which is against South Africa where they will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s.
