West Indies would come hard at Bangladesh in the second ODI at Guyana on Wednesday to level the three-match series 1-1 after the Tigers posted 48-run win in the first ODI. Bangladesh were helped by top-level batting from the likes of opener Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the first ODI. West Indies need to put up a better show to give a tough fight to Bangladesh at home. Cricwizz takes a look at strengths, weaknesses of West Indies and Bangladesh ahead of the second ODI at Guyana on Wednesday.
West Indies strengths
Hard-hitting batsmen

Chris Gayle
West Indies have one of the best attacking openers in ODI cricket – Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis – who can destroy any attack on their day. The two got starts before they failed to make the best of it in the first ODI. Then, they have Andre Russell who had a great IPL season recently. Overall, West Indies are blessed with star players who can destroy any bowling attack on their day. The first ODI, however, did not click for West Indies strong bating unit.
West Indies weaknesses
They are unpredictable and inconsistent
West Indies can be brilliant in one game and mediocre in the next. They were coming off a good Test season, but they failed to carry forward that performance in the first ODI. Earlier, they have lost to Afghanistan in the WC Qualifiers after dominating the tournament throughout. Hence, it is difficult to predict West Indies’ performance in the shorter format. But with their backs against the wall, they can come out all guns blazing in the second ODI to level the series.
Windies ODI Squad: Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Kieran Powell, Andre Russell.
Bangladesh strengths:
Exceptional limited-overs players

Tamim Iqbal
Tamim Iqbal cracked a brilliant 130* and carried the innings on his shoulders. All-rounder Shakib also gave good support with a knock of 97. They have other reliable batting talent in Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain. Once again, Tamim and Shakib can be counted on to deliver the goods in the second ODI as well and seal the series for India.
Bangladesh weaknesses
Inconsistency
Bangladesh can be guilty of being inconsistent to the core. They can be guilty of throwing away winning situations and grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. In the past, Bangladesh have frittered away many advantages to force a win and had ended up on losing side on numerous occasions. They should be ruthless in their approach in the second ODI and shut the opposition out the series.
Bangladesh ODI squad: Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan, Nazmul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Hider Rony, Abu Jayed
Prediction: West Indies will come hard at Bangladesh as they have pride at stake or face the embarrassment of losing an ODI series at home. Bangladesh would look to beat the odds and win a rare overseas ODI series. Our vote goes to West Indies in the crucial second ODI.
