After a spectacular T20I series, India are looking more strong before heading to the 3 ODIs. Eoin Morgan & Co. must be looking to grab at least the ODI series after an ordinary show in the T20 series. On the other hand, skipper Virat Kohli would like to continue their winning momentum at Trent Bridge. Here’s a look at the possible changes that Kohli can make in the 1st ODI against England:
Dinesh Karthik in for Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina was not the first choice for the selectors in ODIs. It was Ambati Rayudu who was included in this team but due to his failure in the yo-yo test, Raina got that vacant spot. Dinesh Karthik was already available in the team from the beginning and if he won’t play then it won’t be a justice to him.
DK is in great form and his sensible cricket can help India in middle-overs to keep the run-rate going. Even legend Virender Sehwag wants him Karthik to be in the squad as his form is terrific these days.
Shreyas Iyer in for Shikhar Dhawan
It won’t be a surprising decision if Kohli would go for Shreyas Iyer instead of Dhawan because KL Rahul can open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma and Iyer can bat at No 3. or 4. His IPL heroics forced selectors to pick him for the English tour and he would be eager to prove himself in this format to get his name in the squad for the 2019 World Cup.
if Iyer can take advantage of his chance against England then he can make things tough for the selectors and Kohli as well, which is fortunately a good headache for the captain.
