After so much drama towards the end of the group session of the IPL 2018, the fans have finally got the top 4 sides who are set to feature in the playoffs. After a terrific Qualifier 1, it’s time for a do or die encounter in the form of ‘Eliminator’ between the home side Kolkata Knight Riders and the lucky Rajasthan Royals. Just before the all important game of this season, let’s checkout the strengths and weaknesses of both KKR and RR:
Kolkata Knight Riders
Chris Lynn back in form – There were occasions when Lynn started off well but couldn’t capitalise on his good starts. In the previous week, the swashbuckling opener came back to his original form with 45 in one innings and a well-deserved fifty in the other. He came back in his prime form at a perfect time just before the important eliminator.
Reliable all-rounders – With the likes of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell in the squad, KKR are very pleased with their all-round department. Narine, while coming as an opener is giving some serious starts to the side while Russell is known to destroy any bowler on his day.
Young guns in death overs – Without any second doubt, the youngsters like Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Mavi have impressed with their high quality bowling in this season. But now, KKR are only have a single chance to move forward in the contest and in this case taking risk at the death overs could cost them some extra 20-25 runs. What would DK do now?
Bowling attack – Now, as Buttler and Stokes are busy with their national commitments, the batting can’t be taken as a strength for RR. They do have some class players like Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi and Rahane himself but are lacking some vintage batsman from their list. On the bowling front, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, K. Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal have been brilliant so far. Can the lucky RR once again be lucky?
Absence of 2 T20 specialists – RR would going to miss their 2 best players in the form of Jos Buttler, who is the main reason of behind RR’s success in this IPL and Ben Stokes, who can anytime take the game away from the opponents. Both the players are not available now and someone has to come forward and take the charge like Buttler did in the past.
