Rashid Khan has been a big success so far in IPL 2018. He has taken 13 wickets @ 26.61 at an economy rate of 7.20. He has bounced back hard after suffering a beating from the blades of Ambati Rayudu and Chris Gayle. Rashid Khan has also pitched in with his cameos with the bat lower down the order.
It’s known that Rashid Khan is a big fan of Shahid Afridi and his customary celebration of raising his arms in delight after taking a wicket is same as that of the former Pakistan all-rounder.
However, Rashid also considers a former Indian cricketer in Anil Kumble as his idol. In an interview with Cricbuzz Unplugged, Rashid Khan revealed his idols and why he literally worships them.
“My idols were Anil Kumble and Shahid Afridi, they both bowled quickly as well. So I was fond of bowling fast. If I bowl leg spin, I bowl it fast,” Rashid Khan revealed in the video.
The Afghanistan spinner also revealed how he took up leg-spin bowling. Rashid said his siblings used to bowl leg-spinners and he picked it up from them. However, he bowled faster leg-spinners than them similar to Kumble, and Afridi.
Rashid Khan has been enjoying great success so far in IPL 2018. He was bagged for Rs 9 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad who used Right to Match card to retain the leg-spinner.
Rashid has helped SRH climb to the top of points table with 18 points, winning 9 games out of 12. Rashid will be instrumental in SRH’s success in the play-offs.
