Sunrisers Hyderabad do not seem to be missing their former skipper David Warner much. The newly appointed skipper in Kane Williamson is leading from the front and taking the team from one win to another. They currently occupy the top spot in points table with 3 wins out of three. Except for a close win (by one wicket) over Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers have posted two comfortable wins over Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Other teams have mixed results so far with Mumbai Indians only team yet to post a win in three matches. So, what’s working for Sunrisers Hyderabad that makes them favourites to go all the way?
A bowling line-up to be envy of:
They have Bhuvneshwar Kumar in their bowing line-up. He is one of the best bowler in death overs. Their foreign import Billy Stanlake is also delivering with the ball. They have quality spinners in Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan who are bowling well in tandem. Siddarth Kaul is also delivering the goods and has the knack of picking up wickets. In fact, all the bowlers in Sunrisers squad have the potential to be match-winners on their day.
An able leader in Kane Williamson
SRH skipper Kane Williamson led the team from the front in the clash against KKR, scoring a vital fifty in the chase of 139. He has also been extremely proactive as skipper while marshalling his resources on the field. He has handled his team well and made brilliant bowling changes so far. His bowlers too have delivered for him. His calm approach towards the game has rubbed on his teammates.
Depth in batting
It is Sunrisers’ batting depth that helped them tide away the tough challenges against Mumbai Indians. With Shikhar Dhawan as opener, SRh have a reliable batsman at the top of order. With Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan as all-rounders, SRH have great depth in batting attack. And Kane Williamson is among the runs. It is a batting line-up that can chase down any score.
Sunrisers Hyderabad would look to continue the winning momentum and give tough competition to other opponents. We believe SRH have been the best team so far across all departments and will make it to the play-offs. But momentum is easily lost in T20 cricket. Hence, SRH need to be on their toes all the time.
