There was a time when Indian team didn’t have quality fast bowlers in their side and now we have a bundle of good quality pace attack in the side and one of them is Mohammad Siraj. Today, on the occasion of his birthday, Cricwizz has come up with his journey from domestic cricket to the Indian team. Here it is:
First Class Debut
Mohammad Siraj made his first-class debut against Services in 2015. Though he was ordinary this game, the guy from Hyderabad didn’t look back after this. He improved with the time and now a prime bowler of Hyderabad.
Siraj showed his real class in the Indian cash-rich league when he was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 IPL. He was picked up for a whopping amount of Rs 2.6 cr and he did justice to that amount by picking up 10 wickets in the 6 games he played. His economy was on a higher side a bit but his focus was upto the mark.
In the 2018 IPL Auction, Siraj was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 2.6 cr. This time Siraj has an added advantage as he would be playing under the leadership of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
Debut for India
His impressive show at the domestic level earned him the place in the national squad. He wore the Indian jersey against New Zealand in T20I series last year. Though he took only 1 wicket in that game, his zeal to achieve something for the country was visible that day.
Later he got the chance against Sri Lanka in Dec in a T20I which India won comfortably. The young lad took 1 wicket but was expensive during his spell. This must be because of his lack of international experience. Currently he is in the squad for Nidahas Trophy and would be hoping for another chance.
