Sunrisers Hyderabad retained the Afghanistan leg-spinner with Right to Match card for a record sum of Rs 9 crore. After participating for SRH in IPL 2017, Rashid Khan has been a big success in various other domestic T20 tournaments across the cricketing world. Rashid Khan would lead the spin attack and would be expected to be a match-winner for the team in IPL 2018. A lot ride on Rashid Khan to turn around the season for SRH in the 2018 edition.
Shakib Al Hasan
The Bangladesh cricketer has been a top all-rounder in limited-overs cricket. He is equally adept in bat and ball. His left-arm spin bowling will add variety to the spin attack. He will be expected to team up with Rashid Khan to take SRH on the path to victory. Shakib will also be expected to contribute with the bat as well to provide the balance to the line-up. However, he faces competition from other foreign cricketers for a place in the XI as SRH have shopped quality overseas cricketers for IPL 2018.
The Afghan all-rounder played just a handful of games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2017 and he was extremely impressive in those few outings. He opened the bowling for SRH as well in the last IPL edition. Since then he made a name for himself as a reliable all-rounder in the various domestic T20 competitions over the past year. If Shakib is unfit, then SRH would depend on Nabi to form the spin pair with Rashid and score few valuable runs with the bat lower down the order as well.
The Hyderabad left-arm spinner has been bought by SRH at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. With spinners such as Rashid, Nabi, Shakib as top tweakers in the squad for SRH, it is highly unlikely that Mehdi Hasan will be given chance to play in the XI in IPL 2018. However, the four-foreigner’s rule in the playing XI might see Mehdi Hasan to team up with Rashid if the conditions require two spinners for the match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
The growing reputation of YS Chahal as a strike bowler made RCB to retain him for Rs 6 crore with RTM card after a fierce bidding between franchisees in IPL 2018 auction. Chahal has been a big hit in limited-overs cricket for India who has made R Ashwin, Randidra Jadeja Test specialists for the nation. He has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders to take RCB to play-offs. He will lead the spin attack for RCB in IPL 2018.
RCB bought the England cricketer for Rs 1.7 crore. He might get a preference to pair up with Chahal because as a left-arm bowler he will add variety to the attack. Besides, Moeen is a good top-order batsman as well and can lead solidity to batting line-up with contributions from the bat. But the four-foreigner rule in playing XI might see Moeen Ali sit out and a local spinner might be preferred to team up with Chahal.
The leg-spinner from Tamil Nadu is highly rated in the domestic circuit. He has earlier played for Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiant. But he is yet to bowl the defining spell that will make him remembered for long among fans. Nevertheless, he can get opportunity to play only if Chahal goes out of form, or is injured. Ashwin has been a former net bowler for Chennai Super Kings and doing well against them in IPL will be on top of his mind. But having a reserve in Ashwin is good news for RCB.
He was the lone bright spot for Royal Challengers Bangalore in a disappointing season last time. He played few useful cameos with the bat lower down the order and took few wickets as well. He was rewarded for his last season’s performance by getting retained by RCB with RTM card for Rs 1 crore. Negi will partner YS Chahal in the spin attack and play the role of a finisher lower down the order as well. Negi will have to repay the faith shown on him by the team management.
He is an off-spinner and a good bat as well. RCB have shopped well to get spinners of all skills into the squad. If the conditions favour off-spin and the wicket is turning square, RCB can field Sundar to rattle the opposition. He is currently playing for India in the Nidahas Trophy and his performances will be keenly watched by Virat Kohli and the team management. He might a chance to pair up with Chahal in IPL 2018.
