When it comes to the best team to have ever played in the IPL, 9 out of 10 people’s answer would be Chennai Super Kings. Not only because of MS Dhoni but the kind of cricket they have played so far is exceptional. They were out from the 2016 and 2017 IPL but are now all set to roar once again. They have some old players in their squad which is a great sign but on the other hand, will surely miss some players who did a terrific job for them in the past. Let’s have a look at those players:
Brendon McCullum is probably one of the fearless batsmen to have ever played the game. He is a great hitter of the ball and can smash everything out of the park. He was a part of CSK camp in 2015 where he showed that what he can do with the bat. Also, who can forget his solid knock of 158 in the first-ever IPL match in 2008? Chennai Super Kings are surely going to miss this veteran New Zealander in their squad.
MS Dhoni said in a statement before the auctions that they will try hard to get Ashwin in their team again but they were failed in doing so. Though they have got Bhajji this time, they would definitely miss Ashwin on the side also. Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play for Kings XI Punjab in this season. Speculations are out that he might become the skipper of the side. Only time will tell now!
It was a complete shocker when none of the sides picked Dwayne Smith in the 2018 IPL Auction. He is known for his hard-hitting with the new ball and can turn around the game within minutes. Smith was a part of CSK in 2015. He alongside McCullum and Hussey had provided some solid starts to the team. It would tough for CSK to find an opener like him in this season.
Mohit Sharma was a part of CSK in 2015 but later on, he played for KXIP. This time also, the pacer is set to play for Preity Zinta’s franchise. His slower deliveries are very effective, especially in the death overs. He has provided some crucial victories to Chennai Super Kings in the past. Chennai might miss his services if any of their bowlers failed to deliver in the death overs.
