During his epic knock of 160* against South Africa at Centurion, Virat Kohli admitted he was cramping during the 90s. But he kept the team’s perspective ahead and fought on to score a majestic 160* and take India to a match-winning total of 303/6. If not for Kohli’s knock, India would have fallen short of a winning total. After scoring the ton, Kohli fielded for another 40 overs. More than anything else, what was admirable was Kohli’s fitness that saw him overcome cramp to score a ton. Kohli said he would look to maintain the same fitness standards when he is 34 or 35.
Kohli told the media, “I want to play this kind of cricket even when I’m 34-35. That’s why I train so much.”
It may be recalled that Kohli was a chubby and baby-faced when he led India to Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2008. During his initial years of international cricket, he carried the same fat.
But his desire for excellence and to be the best in the world to win laurels for his country made him work harder on his fitness. Kohli has followed a strict diet and fitness routines. So, what goes into Kohli’s diet and fitness regime?
Being a Delhi boy, there is obvious love for snacks which are famous in North India. Kohli gave up his favourite ‘kulche chole’.
He has followed a diet routine that is difficult to maintain and persist with. According to a report, Kohli has given on wheat, rice, curry and dessert. His diet comprises grilled fish, grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, spinach, salads, broccoli, egg-whites, personalised breads and spreads and as directed by his trainer. And Kohli admits he has never cheated on this diet.
That’s about his diet.
And for his fitness and training regime, Kohli has shared many videos on his Instagram account on his workouts. Kohli gets a ‘me-time’ during his workouts where he is left all alone and no one gets the right to interfere during this process. But he makes sure he takes selfie or a pic and share it for his fans in his Instagram account.
Here’s few fitness videos that Kohli shared on his Instagram account.
So, are you ready to follow Kohli’s mantra?
