Just like every year, the Big Bas League started on a terrific note where we witnessed a nail-biter between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder in the opener. Shane Watson’s Sydney Thunder clinched a last-ball victory in a magnificent Sydney Derby to kick off their campaign with a blast. Watson’s Thunder will now meet Adelaide Strikers at their Den on Friday where they would look to demolish Travis Head’s Strikers. Before the game undergoes, Cricwizz has come up with the strengths and weaknesses of both the sides. Here we begin:
Winning Momentum: Sydney Thunder would be confident before going into the encounter because of their dramatic victory against Sydney Sixers in the BBL opener. They would be looking to continue their sublime form in this match well.
Superpowers: Thunder’s squad have multiple batsmen who can actually change the scenario of the game from anywhere. The likes of Watson, Buttler in the top order and then Rohrer and Blizzard in the middle can hit the ball long enough. Even on the bowling front, Thunders are not behind as their side includes Mitchell McClenaghan, Fawad Ahmed and Watson himself.
Ben Rohrer and Ryan Gibson have to fire to take the burden off from Shane Watson. Working on the middle-order concern would the key for Sydney Thunder.
Speed Stars: Strikers have a bundle of fast bowlers in their squad who can dismantle any opposition. Big names like Peter Siddle and Ben Laughlin will use their T20 experience to bring Thunders down.
Spinning Hero: Rashid Khan is one of the best limited-overs spinners at the moment and his leggie can outclass any opposition in the world. Travis Head has to use him in a right way so that his magical spells can become a concern for the rivals. It won’t come out as a surprise if Watson & Co. would be planning to tackle this young gun from Afghanistan.
Lack of experience in batting is a concern for Strikers. Apart from Travis Head and Colin Ingram, no one has much experience in the line-up.
Cricwizz Prediction: Sydney Thunder
