Table-toppers Band-e-Amir Dragons will take on Mis Ainak Knights in the Qualifier at Kabul on Wednesday in Shpageeza Cricket League. Band-e-Amir Dragons have only lost to Mis Ainak Knights in the league game and would eye revenge in the Qualifier. Rashid Khan leads BEAD while Mohammad Nabi captains MAK. Cricwizz takes a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the two teams ahead of the clash.
Band-e-Amir Dragons strengths:
A champion bowler in Rashid Khan: The skipper is leading from the front in the SCL. He has taken 12 wickets in five league games in the SCL. His contribution was vital in the league game against Boost Defenders when he took three late-order wickets to help BEAD post 6-run win over the opponent. He also bowled a brilliant spell of 4/10 to bowl out Amo Sharks for 102. BEAD will be hopeful that Rashid Khan will come to the party again in qualifier.
An all-rounder in Shahidullah: Shahidullah has been the best performer for BEAD in the league games. He played a vital role with both bat and ball to help BEAD bag the top spot in the points table. Shahidullah took 7 wickets and struck two fifties in 5 matches in SCL so far. He will again be the key for BEAD in the Qualifier.
Only loss against MAK: BEAD suffered the only loss in 2017 SCL to MAK. It was a narrow 6-run loss. The loss would have a bearing on BEAD players when they take on MAK in the Qualifier. BEAD would have to play out of their skin to get past a competitive MAK.
Mis Ainak Knights strengths:
Strong batting order: They have a strong opening pair in Vusi Sibanda and Ihsanullah who have provided good starts for MAK. They had put up a match-winning stand of 85 for the first wicket against Amo Sharks. Then they have reliable batsmen in Nasir Jamal and Sikandar Raza who provide solidity to the middle-order. Then they have an all-rounder in skipper Mohammad Nabi who is good with both bat and ball.
Efficient bowling attack: MAK have a quality bowling line-up in Dawlat Zadran, Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq. Dawlat Zadran is the most impressive bowler for MAK, taking 10 wickets in the five league games. Nabi too has been outstanding with the ball.
Complacency: MAK have been outstanding in SCL. They just lost one match by a close margin of 7 runs against Boost Defenders. Other than this failure, MAK have been outstanding. They snatched victory against BEAD in the league game. They have to ward of complacency in the qualifier against BEAD.
Prediction: After the opening loss to MAK, BEAD have been outstanding in the league phase. But MAK too have been brilliant in the SCL. It’s going to be clash between the top teams in SCL. BEAD are on a roll with a four-match winning streak. Our vote goes to Rashid Khan and his men in this BEAD vs MAK Qualifier clash.
