Sammy provides impetus:
The Zouks innings was a perfect example of everyone chipping in with some runs and building a total. But the bad part was that no one stayed till the end to ensure a big total could be put up so that Trinbago could come under high pressure in this crucial match. Charles, Fletcher and Watson all made contributions, but couldn’t stay till the end. Captain Sammy provided the last overs rush with a brilliant 37 from 18 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Umar Akmal shines for Trinbago:
The Zouks managed to remove three Trinbago wickets fairly quickly until Umar Akmal came to the crease. He along with Colin Munro (21) and then Anton Devcich (25) took Trinbago towards victory with ease. Akmal scored 73* in just 35 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes to his name. The Trinbago team won with 3 wickets in hand in the 17th over. Delorn Johnson, for Zouks tried his best to delay the win for Trinbago with 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs.
Important win for Trinbago:
This three wicket win for Trinbago Knight Riders came at a very importunate time. They required a win to take them closer to the playoffs qualification and with this very good victory, they are now in 3rd place behind the Jamaica Tallawahs, who have already qualified and Guyana Amazon Warriors who are at the second spot with 10 points and 2 matches in hand.
All the teams now have 2 matches in hand and both Trinbago and Zouks have a chance to qualify for the play offs as both have 8 points to their name. Both teams need to ensure they win atleast one to qualify for the playoffs.
