Pakistan’s main weapon, leg spinner Yasir Shah faces race against time to regain full fitness from a knee injury ahead of the tour of England, sources said Sunday.
The 30-year-old aggravated last year’s knee injury and have to miss the ongoing Boot camp in Abottabad.
Sources said Yasir’s MRI scan on the injury is not damaging.
“The MRI scan reveals that there is slight damage to the tissues in the left knee. It is an old injury sustained in November last year which also forced him to miss part of the one-day series against England,” said sources.
Since he lands on that left knee it is causing pain and he will not be able to attend the boot camp.
“This sort of injury takes 4 t0 6 weeks so its remain to be seen how the injury responds to the treatment and will be case of race against time for Shah. ”
Sources said after suffering from a doping suspension Yasir did not train and then attend a spin bowlers’ camp and later played the Pakistan Cup with the same injury and it got aggravated.
Yasir has 76 wickets in 12 Tests and was Pakistan’s most successful bowler in Tests for the last two years. Pakistan will be hard pressed if Yasir does not get fit for the four Test series in England starting from July 14.
