Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev is known for his sharp and critical comments on the game and cricketers as well. He does not mince words and speaks his heart out. He is even critical of Indian cricketers in those areas where they have done exceptionally well for their country.
The latest to get hit by Kapil’s straightforward remarks is none other than MS Dhoni who has hit a purple patch once again in terms of his captaincy. Dhoni has led India to 10 T20Is win out of 11 in this year, winning series’ against Australia and Sri Lanka and the recent Asia Cup.
However, it does not deter Kapil to make a sharp observation on Dhoni’s captaincy and criticise the skipper for his rather too “cool” leadership.
During the ‘Salaam Cricket Conclave’, organised by a leading TV new channel and attended by former and current Indian cricket stars, Kapil said Dhoni’s cool behaviour on the field does not inspire debutants who look for encouragement from the skipper.
Kapil said when a debutant bowler concedes a four, he looks for support from his skipper who can go to him and encourage him to bowl better. But Dhoni is too calm on the field, Kapil added.
Earlier, Kapil has criticised Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar for not doing justice to his talent. Kapil said Sachin was not ruthless and would have advised him to play like Virender Sehwag to become a better cricketer!
