Mustafizur Rahman, the pace sensation of Bangladesh, who had a brilliant outing during their famous victory against Sri Lanka on Sunday, has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup due to side strain. Meanwhile, the team think tank decided to include opener Tamim Iqbal in his place, ESPNCricinfo reported.
Earlier Tamim took a break from this tournament due to the birth of his first child. On Sunday, he and his wife welcomed a baby boy. Now with this injury of Mustafizur, Tamim will get a chance to take part in the rest of the Asia Cup.
However, Mustafizur sustained the strain, during Bangladesh’s 23-run win over Sri Lanka on Sunday. According to Bayjedul Islam Khan, the team Physio said that the injury was a ‘Grade 1 strain’.
“Mustafiz complained of discomfort after Sunday’s match against Sri Lanka. An MRI scan was done today and the report from the radiologist confirmed a Grade 1 side strain on the right. He is under conservative treatment and rest for next 48 hours. Following that the rehab will begin. We are expecting that he will make a quick recovery and resume bowling soon,” the physio mentioned.
Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in their last group league game on March 2.
