An in-form Team India will take on a struggling Sri Lanka in the 7th match of the Asia Cup at Dhaka on Tuesday.
With two wins from two games, Dhoni and his men are favourites to win the T20I against Sri Lanka. However, India is hampered by injuries to regular openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. While Dhawan is ruled out, Rohit Sharma is hopeful of a recovery. If Rohit is unable to make it, Parthiv Patel, who was earlier called in as replacement for MS Dhoni, will get a look in.
India’s bowling looks settled with all bowlers in form and among the wickets. The part-timers such as Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina have also shined with the ball. The fielding has been top-notch too.
If Team India posts a win against Sri Lanka, they will guarantee themselves a place in the final. India is on a roll though, winning the last seven T20Is out of a total of 8 played in 2016.
For Sri Lanka, another loss would create their chances of qualifying for the final almost impossible as they will be left to beat Pakistan by a big margin and hope other results go their way.
Their inexperienced batting has been struggling to even score off UAE bowlers, while their bowling is struggling to contain batsmen. If Malinga does not recover to play in this crucial fixture, it will be a big blow for the defending champions.
Overall, it can be an exciting contest as Dhoni and his men would like to assert their supremacy in the T20 format.
