Bangladesh will look to win big against UAE in the third match of the Asia Cup on Friday. Bangladesh suffered a 45-run loss against India in the opening game. They need to beat UAE by a big margin to stay alive in the tournament.
Bangladesh was guilty of letting India off the hook after dictating terms for the first 10-overs of India’s innings. They bowled short and too full when Indian batsmen showed the urgency to look for runs. Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said they have few things to learn from the loss and could have bowled better in the death overs.
The loss should motivate Bangladesh to take on UAE in full might, although the latter would be no pushovers. UAE has shown promise in the Asia Cup, after beating Afghanistan, Oman and Hong Kong to qualify for the main matches. They can cause a few problems for Bangladesh with their competitive spirit. However, the lack of experience of playing higher-ranked teams could be a hindrance.
Bangladesh would be at risk of taking UAE lightly. The T20 format is too fickle and can cause an upset on any day and spoil the party of a higher-ranked team. Bangladesh would be favourites to win the match and bring some cheer among their fans.
