Speedster Mohammed Shami has been rule out of the Asia Cup 20 16 as the medical team have decided to give him two more weeks to fully recover from the Grade II hamstring injury he suffered at a practice session in Australia in January.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as his replacement.
Shami has been out of international action since the World Cup in 2015 where he suffered a knee injury and underwent surgery for the same. He then went through months of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
He was part of the 30-member group selected for an India camp after which he was still found to seem unfit.
The BCCI medical team confirmed that Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of Asia Cup, 2016 in a press release from the BCCI.
The decision has been taken to give him more time to recover from the Grade II injury to his left hamstring said the release.
Mohd Shami will have less than a month to regain full fitness for the World T20 which starts from March 15.
