2013 Champions Mumbai Indians head into this year’s IPL with a freshened look. Under the management of former Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting; the Mumbai side will look to avert last year’s disastrous performance where they lost 5 matches in a row during the UAE leg. Rohit Sharma will have some new faces to deal with as World Cup winner Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood and the runners-up Corey Anderson, Mitchell McClenaghan complete the squad.
Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard have been long time servants for this side and will be deadly on their day. Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Unmukt Chand, Parthiv Patel and Vinay Kumar will need to up the ante if they are hopeful of getting an Indian call-up.
Key player: Aaron Finch who is Australia’s T20 skipper could prove a crucial player at the top. His blistering batting and powerful strokes can provide a perfect start for Mumbai Indians. Over the years, Mumbai have missed a ‘Warner’ type player at the top and voila! ‘Finchy’ is the perfect answer.
All in all, Mumbai has a complete squad at this year’s IPL but can Ponting’s coaching skills lead them to the Finals?
