The 3rd T20I of the 3-match T20I series between South Africa and the World No.2 ranked England is set to take place at the Newlands in Cape Town on Tuesday. The match is a dead rubber as the series is already sealed in favor of the visitors after they managed to defeat the proteas in both the matches played so far.

The match might be a dead rubber in terms of the series standings but the encounter promises to be a thrilling one as the shortest form of the game always manages to entertain us and given the fact that the two teams have a list of world-class players, it does look like we have a thriller in our hands.

The first match did look in favor of the proteas after they managed to notch up 179 on the board and dismiss the English openers cheaply. But, it was the arrival of Jonny Bairstow that destroyed the hopes of the hosts as he went on to score a brilliant 86 of 48 balls and ensured he took the Englishmen over the line.

The 2nd T20I was in favor of the visitors from the first innings as the pinpoint bowling by the English bowlers ensured they restricted the Proteas to 146 runs, their key bowler being Jofra Archer who ended with figures of 4-0-18-1. The English batsmen in reply did shaky at certain sessions of the chase and did lose wickets at regular intervals but the in-form Dawid Malan ensured his team got over the line by scoring a clinical 55 of 40 balls, which also ensured the series was bagged in favor of the 2019 ICC World Cup winners.

Can the visitors make it 3-0 and register a dominating whitewash? Or will the proteas strike back and regain the much-needed momentum going into the ODI series?

Weather Report

The conditions are expected to be ideal for cricket as clear skies are expected throughout the day with occasional clouding, but nothing that threatens to interrupt the game. The temperature is expected to hover in the 19-14 degree range. The humidity is anticipated to reach 62 percent at peak.

Pitch

The teams will be back to Newlands after playing their second match at the Boland Park in Paarl. As we saw in the 1st T20I played here, the pitch is good for batting and is expected to behave the same way for this encounter. Said that the pitch did offer some initial movement for the pacers and the bowlers did manage to use that to their favor. The team winning the toss will be looking to bat second as the dew factor could come into play once again. Any score above the 180 mark is likely to put the chasing team in a spot of bother.

Team News

South Africans have not reported any injuries. But, the management will be disappointed with the form of a few players. Their opener Temba Bavuma has failed to score in both matches and looks to be struggling to get going. This may give the Right-handed batsman Janneman Malan an opportunity.

England on the other side seems to be doing really well and the management will be more than happy to feature the same Xl that managed to bag the series 2-0. Also, keeping in mind the upcoming ODI series, the management will not fiddle much with the playing Xl as they will be looking to carry on the winning momentum into the 50-over format.
