Rajasthan Royals appoint Shane Warne as Brand Ambassador, Team Mentor for IPL 2020. The Royals have announced that former Australian spinner will be their new brand ambassador and will also essay the role of team mentor for the upcoming edition of the tournament. Shane Warne was also the only Rajasthan Royals skipper who has led the team to their only title back in the first edition of the IPL.
Shane will be traveling to the UAE and will work in strengthening the fanbase of the team and attract more sponsors accounting for the level of knowledge he sustains. Warne spoke some words in an official release issued by the Rajasthan Royals. “On my dual role, it’s always a great feeling to be back with the Royals, my team, my family. It’s exciting to be working across all elements of this franchise that I love. We have worked towards our vision of becoming a global team that fans around the world love and follow.”
“This season I am looking forward to working as a team mentor and joining up with an excellent backroom staff. Hopefully, we can have a successful season and achieve big things in the coming months.”
He will also have Andrew McDonald along his side as the head coach. Both have been teammates from 2003-07 for Victoria. Steve Smith another Australian will be leading the Royals in this edition. The COO of Rajasthan Royals Jack Kush McCrum also praised Shane Warne and was very optimistic about his appointment.
As far as Indian Premier League is concerned, Mumbai Indians will be locking horns with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL opener on September 19, while Rajasthan Royals will play their opening game against Chennai on September 22 in the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
