It’s a do or die battle for a rampaging Sunrisers Hyderabad as they take on Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah.
David Warner and Virat Kohli are two of the best white-ball batsmen on the planet right now and are proud leaders of their strong units. RCB is fighting to cement its place in the top 2 to get two chances to get into the finals but for SRH, it’s a win or go home scenario.
SRH thumped Delhi Capitals by a margin of 88 runs in their previous match. Their batting was in a marauding mood as they put on a mammoth score on the board with Warner himself leading the charge.
RCB succumbed to a 5-wicket defeat in an intense clash against the table-toppers Mumbai Indians. They lost wickets in a heap at the fag end of their inning and their bowling was way off its mark against a well-drilled MI machine.
Is this the year RCB breaks its hoodoo of winning the IPL by getting into the top two spots or will SRH be the party poopers?
Match Toss Time: 17:30 Local (19:00 IST)
Match Start Time: 18:00 Local (19:30 IST)
Match Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah
The weather in Sharjah on the matchday is expected to be clear with no chances of rain whatsoever. Temperature is likely to be hovering around the 30-32 degree celsius range.
Humidity is expected to be on the lower side for a change, which would make the task of players a bit easier.
RCB have one win and loss each in Sharjah, whereas SRH have played only one match here, which they lost against MI.
The pitch in Sharjah was a belter of a wicket at the start but has mellowed down over the course of the tournament. The short boundaries will most definitely help the batters but spinners and deceptive pace bowlers will have a greater say in the game.
RCB’s bowling looked flat and without any venom in the previous game and Kohli can ring some changes. Steyn is well past his prime and will be replaced by Isuru Udana, who is also making a comeback.
SRH had a terrific win last time out and they would want to continue with the winning combination. Although, Wriddhiman Saha is doubtful for this clash.
